13For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not [a]adjusted and [b]adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to [c]a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.
14Therefore, my dearly beloved, shun (keep clear away from, avoid by flight if need be) any sort of idolatry (of loving or venerating anything more than God).
Temptations and trials are common occurrences in our lives, Christians and non-Christians; saved and unsaved. The good news is that for the saved God watches over you every moment of your life and cares about the outcome of your life.
I have highlighted the following points from the scriptures above:
1. The temptation is not strange
2. God is faithful not to allow temptation that is more than you can handle
3. God will use the temptation to make a way of escape for you, so you can bear it. 4. Flee from anything that attempts to occupy (take) the place of God in your life.
So when temptations come your way, know that it is not strange and you can handle it, otherwise God will not allow it. Also, believe that there is an end that will favour you because God is working to make a way of escape for you.
Your attitude is a key to hold unto, in your moment or season of trial and temptation.
If you are double minded or see the temptation you are faced with as overwhelming, then, you alienate God and promote your trial above God in your life. As such your problem has become an idol in your life. It can even be that you ignore God in your moment of trial and seek man’s help first or result to other satanic options or just loose faith in the ability of God to solve your problem.
On the other hand, you can choose to believe God all the way regardless of the outcome. In this way you attract the presence of God and you can be sure that He will glorify His name in your life. It is important that you never forget that God cares so much about you and He will not allow the devil to dance over you or your situation.
God’s plans for you are that of peace and not of evil to bring you to an expected end (Jer. 29:11), he will always be by your side and if it becomes too difficult for you He will carry you.
